"Hallelujah" is a song about family, love, loss, and being grateful for it all.

A recognition of the band's sisterly bonds and how privileged the Haim sisters are to have one another in their lives.

[Verse 1: Danielle]

"I met two angels, but they were in disguise

Took one look to realize

Tell 'em anything and they will sympathize

These arms hold me tight

Old fears, helped to ease them in my mind

New tears say that they will dry in time"

Danielle Haim opens the song with an intimate confessional. In an Instagram post about the track, she says, "my verse is about our relationship as sisters. that feeling of knowing what your sibling is gonna do or say before they do it. Sibling telepathy is a real thing!!!! that is what inspired the concept for this video. when we got together with Paul we wanted to depict what it's like to have siblings that always have your back. A support system. this song is a big thank you to the people in your life that love and support you every day."

[Verse 3: Alana]

"I had a best friend but she has come to pass

One I wish I could see now

You always remind me that memories will last

These arms reach out

You were there to protect me like a shield

Long hair, running with me through the field

Everywhere, you've been with me all along"

Alana's verse is about her friend, Sammi Kane Kraft, who died when she was 20. She spoke about it in an Instagram caption: "I went through a really dark time when I was 20. I woke up on a hazy October morning to find out that my best friend, Sammi Kane Kraft, had passed away in a tragic car accident. It was a loss that changed my life forever. Sammi was my everything, and coming to terms with the fact that she wasn't here, that I couldn't call her, I couldn't hug her, I would never see her bright smile and sparkling eyes ever again broke me. I had always wanted to pay tribute to her in some way and I could never put how important she was into words. I'm not the same, I'll never be the same. The me before took love, friends and family for granted. Now there won't be a day that goes by where I don't tell everyone I love how special they are to me."

Alana has the initials "SKK" on her guitar in remembrance of Sammi.

There were released two music videos for the track. The original one, directed by longtime collaborator Paul Thomas Anderson, primarily focuses on a day in Danielle Haim's life and its regular monotony.

The second version, dubbed "Hallelujah (Thank You Version)," features videos of fans, family members, and celebrities sharing homemade footage of themselves singing along to the track while celebrating the holidays with their loved ones.

"Hallelujah" is a breathtaking ode to love, connection, and care.
