Miley Cyrus' "Bright Minded" Talk Show teaches you how to "Stay Lit" in dark times

On March 17th, Miley Cyrus created a program on Instagram Live during this quarantine period due to the coronavirus, called "Bright Minded: Live with Miley."

In each episode, the singer speaks to different well-known personalities about various subjects: Blessing and curse of social media, Reliable sources, Immune boosters, Get active, Healthy anxiety, Thoughts and attention determine how you feel, Memories, Inflammation, Negative thoughts, Dedicate and Sleep/Share.


Miley even released an opening theme for the show called "Bright Minded." The song talks about having something to do in this time locked up at home, feeling that the hours go by very slowly. "If you wanna be bright minded, there's just one place to go," she sings. "When you're stuck at home, and the time is tickin' slow." On Instagram, Miley said that "This series will not be political, or even about the illness- It is purely for hope and escapism!"


In this article, you can read, briefly, what has been said in each of the episodes:


  • Episode 1: Dr. Daniel Gregory Amen: neuroscientist, double board-certified psychiatrist, and ten-time New York Times bestselling author.

Dr. Amen referred to the immune boosters that we should be aware of in this period of isolation: exercise, healthy food, and sleeping well.

At this stage, thinking about good memories is a great exercise to feel good anytime and anywhere in our home.

Learning new skills is still crucial: learning a new musical instrument, reading, and writing songs that actively involve our memory.


  • Episode 2: Demi Lovato, American singer.

Demi Lovato said that calling friends and family, exercising through mobile phone applications, and stimulating creativity are some of the tasks that help her maintain a healthy state of mind during pandemics. She also said that her maximum value right now is to prioritize her health and help, as much as possible, her new followers to accept themselves as they are: to like their body and themselves.

  • Episode 3: Teacher Saul Choza (Winsor Choza Pilates); Amy Schumer, American stand-up comedian, and actress; Lauren and Cameron from "Love is Blind."

In the third episode, Miley invited her trainer Saul Choza to do a Pilates workout with basic breathing exercises at any time.

  • Episode 4: Rita Ora, English singer, and Jermy Scott, American fashion designer.

Rita Ora is promoting a symbol, created with the United Nations Foundation, to raise funds for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, a fund created by the World Health Organization".

The artist, who recently released the single "How To Be Lonely," said she did not care about the success or not of the music in this period, valuing everyone's mental health. Jeremy Scott came up with ideas for reusing clothes that we no longer use. A great way to spend time at this stage.


  • Episode 5: Hailey Bieber, American model; Trixie Mattel, American drag queen, singer-songwriter, comedian, and television personality and Milk, American drag performer and fashion model.

  • Episode 6: Ellen DeGeneres, American comedian; Rickey Thompson, American actor, comedian, Internet personality and Emily Osment, American actress, singer, and songwriter.

Miley advised the book "Count Your Rainbows: A Gratitude Journal" by Jenny Mecher as an example of reading in this phase of isolation. She shared with the fans some of the exercises that come in the book: "Write five little things that you are grateful for right now"; "Take a walk around your space and pay attention to little things you see every day and don't give you enough value" or "A person in your life who is truly your friend. "Count Your Rainbows: A Gratitude Journal" will guide your thoughts to see and embrace the positive aspects of your life and help you express appreciation.

  • Episode 7: Tish Cyrus, American actress and producer; Billy Ray Cyrus, American singer-songwriter and actor; Noah Cyrus, American singer, songwriter, and actress, and Stassi Schroeder, American television personality, podcast host, fashion blogger, model, and author.

The seventh episode marks the 14th anniversary of the Hannah Montana series, on March 24, 2006. This was also an episode dedicated to the family. Miley invited her parents and sister to share tips on maintaining a good mental balance.


  • Episode 8: Reese Witherspoon, American actress; Hilary Duff, American actress; Bebe Rexha, American singer and Dua Lipa, English singer.

Reese Witherspoon shared some of the films part of his "Movies you need to see in your lifetime." Some of them are Thelma & Louise (1991), Raising Arizona (1987), Overboard (1987), Defending Your Life (1991), and Mrs. Doubtfire (1993).

  • Episode 9: Antoni Porowski; Canadian television personality, actor, chef, and model; Mark Ronson, British–American musician, DJ, songwriter, and record producer; Ryan Tedder, American singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, and lead vocalist of the pop rock band OneRepublic and Ilsey Juber, American singer and songwriter from California.

In this episode, Miley spoke to some of the most well-known music producers and writers she worked with during her career. They talk about the experiences they went through together during the creative process.


  • Episode 10: Nicole Richie, American television personality; Paris Hilton, American media personality; Vijat Mohindra, advertising, celebrity, and editorial photographer; Matthew Reamer, activist and historian queer; and Michelle Visage, American singer, television host, radio DJ, performer, television producer, and media personality.

The central theme was Pop culture and the LGTB community in the tenth episode.

Photographer Vijat Mohindra announced the release date of his future book called "High Brilliance: The Art of Vijat Mohindra," on November 10. Miley Cyrus is the cover of the book.

  • Episode 11: Zion Clark, African-American wrestler; Alicia Keys, American singer; Selma Blair, American actress, and Millie Bobby Brown, English actress.

The episode, focused on motivation, was attended by Zion Clark. For those who don't know him, Zion Clark was born with a rare medical condition known as caudal regression syndrome, a condition that left him without legs. But the determined young man not only managed to live without legs but also grew up to be a renowned wrestler.

On August 10, 2018, Netflix released a short film documentary on Zion Clark and his journey.

Then, Alicia Keys revealed her latest book, "More Myself: A Journey," on March 31: an intimate look at one artist's journey from self-censorship to full expression.

  • Episode 12: Biba DeSousa, creator of Biba Los Angeles Luxury Skincare; James Kaliardos, makeup artist; Justin Anderson, Hair Stylist; Steph Stone, Nail artist; Miranda Kerr, Australian model and Ashley Graham, American plus-size model.

An episode dedicated to self-care.

  • Episode 13: Anitta, Brazilian singer; Ashley Longshore, Louisiana-based painter, gallery owner, and entrepreneur; Zoe Kravitz, American actress, and Diplo, American DJ.

In honor of April Fool's Day, Miley hosted "BRIGHT MINDED: Live With Miley" as her alter ego, Ashley O, from "Black Mirror."

Her first guest, Anitta, spoke about the creative process behind her upcoming album. Lastly, Miley and Diplo had fun remixing the "Bright Minded" theme song.


  • Episode 14: Max La Manna, zero-waste chef, environmental activist; Lauren Singer, environmental activist, entrepreneur, and blogger; Lili Reinhart, American actress and Cody Simpson, Australian singer, songwriter.

This episode was about the environment and poetry.

Max La Manna is a zero-waste vegan chef and climate activist. His best-selling debut cookbook "More Plants Less Waste" won the Gourmand award for the UK's Most Sustainable Cookbook in 2019.

Lauren Singer is an environmental activist, entrepreneur, and blogger. Her blog "Trash is for Tossers" focuses on educating readers on how she achieves a zero waste lifestyle.

Lastly, Lili Reinhart shares her new book, which drops this year. The debut collection of poetry "Swimming Lessons" explores the euphoric beginnings of young love, battling anxiety and depression in the face of fame, and the inevitable heartbreak from passion.

  • Episode 15: Elton John, English singer, songwriter, pianist, and composer; Kerry Washington, American actress; Selena Gomez, American singer and Jimmy Fallon, American comedian, actor, television host, writer, and producer.

Elton John is working with his foundation, the Elton John AIDS Foundation, to donate $1 million over the next three months to help marginalized communities and those affected by other diseases & pandemics during this time.

Kerry Washington joined Miley next. They talked about Kerry's latest project – Hulu's Little Fires Everywhere – which was made by a group of female powerhouses both in front of and behind the camera.

The show then welcomed singer, Selena Gomez. She and Miley both spoke very openly about their mental health experiences, and they shared a variety of organizations and ways to seek help if you were struggling. Selena is also working with a few specific organizations, such as MusiCares.

Lastly, Miley was joined by late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon. They reminisced about Miley's previous appearances on The Tonight Show and compared talk show setups. They then closed the show by jamming to Diplo's remix of the "Bright Minded" theme song.

  • Episode 16: Dr. Oscar Maitas, expertise on internal medicine, heart failure, and clinical science, and Dr. Syra Madad, American pathogen preparedness expert.

After a brief pause, Miley returned to "BRIGHTMINDED: LIVE WITH MILEY" for a particular week, "Highlighting Heroes," honoring the heroes in our communities.


  • Episode 17: José Andrés, Spanish-American chef and founder of World Central Kitchen (WCK), and Nancy Keil, President and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.

Miley's first guest was the founder of World Central Kitchen, Chef José Andrés. WCK is a non-profit organization that has served more than 1 million meals to families, frontline healthcare workers, and first responders in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nancy Keil discusses what they're doing to support their residents during this pandemic. Second Harvest is part of the Feeding America network of food banks and is currently working with local restaurants, artists, and food distributors to provide meals to 46 counties across Tennessee.


  • Episode 18: Tia Oros Peters, Executive Director of the Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples; Shirley Raines, Founder of Beauty 2 the Streets and Erin Casey & Heather Carmichael of My Friend's Place.

The last episode highlighted women who have dedicated their careers to serving vulnerable communities.


Miley Cyrus started the show in response to the global coronavirus and received massive recognition due to the positive impact.
