Selena Gomez released the deluxe version of her newest album, "Rare," on April 9, and with it, three bonus songs: "Boyfriend," "She," and "Souvenir."

"Boyfriend" serves as the opening track. Produced by The Roommates, the lyrics capture the struggles of dating. She starts by singing, "I want a boyfriend / But I just keep hitting dead ends / Try to take a shortcut, but I get cut again and again / I want a boyfriend / Tell me, are there any good ones left? / I keep finding wrong ones, but I want love again and again."

On an Instagram post, Selena Gomez wrote ahead of the single's release that the song doesn't represent where she is now with her dating mindset. "Many of you know how excited I've been to release a song called "Boyfriend." It's a lighthearted song about falling and getting back up time and time again in love, but also knowing that you don't need anyone other than yourself to be happy." She continues, "We wrote it long before our current crisis, but in the context of today, I want to be clear that a boyfriend is no where near the top of my list of priorities. Just like the rest of the world, I'm praying for safety, unity, and recovery during this pandemic".

Selena Gomez premiered the music video for "Boyfriend" on April 10. In the clip, directed by Matty Peacock, Gomez takes a potion with her on her dates and turns the boys into frogs she collects.

"She," also produced by The Roommates, is about her journey and growth. The song is similar to "Look At Her Now," where Selena talks about her experiences as a third person. "She didn't know all of the hurt she could take, / Her world was crumbling and so was her faith/ Wish I could talk to her 'cause what I would say,/"Oh baby, you're enough to get you out of this place."

"Souvenir," produced by Ian Kirkpatrick, is the one that is doing more than talking due to the lyrics and the enigma of whom the song is about. In this track, the singer seems to reference a previous romance. She sings about a lover with "Egyptian blue" eyes. "New York back in August, tenth floor balcony / Smoke is floating over Jane and Greenwich street," the song begins, taking us back to the summer. In the second verse, we travel to California. "Sunset tower lobby, waiting there for me," she sings. "In the elevator, fumble for your key."

In the chorus, Selena expresses how this person can take good care of her, making her sleep easier than the pills she was used to. "You're giving me chills at a hundred degrees, / it's better than pills how you put me to sleep." In the album, on "Fun," the singer mentions the same thing comparing the excitement that this person gives to the remedies she's used to taking: "You get me higher than the medication."

Selena Gomez said she's personally donating to the Plus1 COVID-19 Relief Fund and $1 from every album order on her official store to the fund.
