Early Life and Influences:

Beatrice Kristi Laus is a Filipino-British indie singer-songwriter born on June 3, 2000, in Iloilo City, Philippines. She is also known as Bea Kristi or professionally as beabadoobee. She grew up in West London, listening to OPM (original Pinoy music) and pop and rock music from the 1980s. While she was a teenager, she listened to indie rock, including Karen O, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Florist, and Alex G. She spent seven years learning to play the violin before getting her first guitar second-hand at the age of 17. She taught herself how to play the instrument using YouTube tutorials.

beabadoobee has cited Elliott Smith, The Mouldy Peaches, Pavement, Mazzy Star, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, and Daniel Johnston as her musical influences.

2017–2019: "Lice," "Patched Up," "Loveworm," and "Space Cadet"

The first song beabadoobee wrote on her guitar was "Coffee," an emotional bedroom-pop bop that went low-key viral. She released the music and a cover of Karen O's "The Moon Song" in September 2017. "Coffee" gained over 300,000 views on YouTube, as well as the attention of Dirty Hit Records.

Her first debut EP, "Lice," was released in March 2018 and her second EP, "Patched Up," in December 2018. In early 2019, the singer released her third EP titled "Loveworm," marking yet another step up musically for the young musician. In July 2019, beabadoobee released an acoustic version of the EP titled "Loveworm (Bedroom Sessions)." In September 2019, she commenced her first tour supporting Clairo on her "Immunity Tour."

In October 2019, she released her fourth EP, "Space Cadet," and made the front cover of NME on October 25, 2019.

In February 2019, a sample of her song "Coffee" was used on Powfu's single, "Death Bed (Coffee for Your Head)." A year later, the song became a sleeper hit after going viral on the app TikTok.

2020–present: Debut album

In February 2020, beabadoobee performed at the 2020 NME Awards after winning the Radar Award.

She supported labelmates The 1975 on the UK leg of their "Music for Cars Tour" in February 2020 and their "Notes on a Conditional Form tour" of North America in April 2020.

Her first debut album arrives this year, and she will offer the first taste with the track "Care" on July 14. On July 8, Bea posted a behind-the-scenes "In The Studio" announcement video to her social media channels in which she speaks about making her debut album. "I've been recording an album in this little studio in South West London," the musician says. About the new song, she referred that "Care" "(...) describes the sound I want to have as a whole. (...) It's like the best type of nostalgic and warm feelings I want when people listen to my music." Later, she adds that her debut record contains some of her "favorite songs I've ever written."
